Digestive concerns include bloating, gas, acid reflux, indigestion, and other gastrointestinal issues. Luckily there are many things that can be done to prevent digestive distress.
If you are at home, take 1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar by
itself or mixed in a small amount of water before each meal. The
apple cider vinegar can help digestion by stimulating the body’s
won digestive juices to be released.
If you are going to a party or a restaurant, it might be easier to
bring digestive enzyme capsules. Take 1-2 capsules before meals to
help the body break down the food.
During meals, take small bites and chew the food thoroughly.
Practice mindful eating, which means focusing on the food and your
experience eating the food. This will help with overall digestion,
help with enjoying your food, and prevent overeating.
After the meal, consider drinking some tea that can help with
digestion. Teas that are excellent for digestion include
peppermint, fennel, dandelion, ginger, licorice, and lemon balm.
Make sure to drink a lot of water (at least half of your body
weight in ounces of water a day) to prevent constipation and to
keep yourself hydrated.
If you do suffer from constipation, take 1 tablespoon of fiber
(chia seeds, flax seeds, or psyllium husk) 2 times a day in the
water. This will help move the bowels along.
These are only a few simple suggestions on how to prevent and support your body if you experience any digestive concerns. It is important to get individualized support from a healthcare practitioner if you notice your symptoms not improving or getting worse.
